Disclaimer:

I only recently learned that a temperament named pathological in one language could be celebrated in another.
But that revelation does not make it mine to speak.
I won’t claim a lineage that is not my own, nor will I drag the symptoms I spent years hiding into its flattering light.

The raw materials—and the patterns of acoustic hyperfixation, selective attention, compulsive audio collection, sentimental object projection, ritualization of anonymous connection, documentation of minute events, repeated spatial adjustment, implicit choreographic direction, and perceptual hypervigilance visible across them—were not accumulated through formal study or sustained artistic practice. Their apparent coherence was neither intentional nor understood at the time.

The word archive is being used retrospectively. It should not be mistaken for evidence that one was consciously assembled before I knew the word.

This was not work.
It was survival.

The work is not found in the existence of the materials.
It will be found in how they are now selected, structured, related, and activated.

I am only now learning to look at the boxes of things I collected.
To bring them out of the closet and call some of it something other than crap.
To give form to what I once could not understand.
